Independent numbers, from sensors nobody edits
Methane monitoring is the sharpest case. TROPOMI maps the gas globally every day, in the open; large leaks from pipelines, wells and landfills appear as plumes attributable to a facility. An operator can dispute a report. It is harder to dispute a spectrometer that also photographed every other facility on Earth the same day.
The same independence applies down the list: forest loss alerts against a Landsat baseline that reaches back four decades, reservoir levels traced by radar through the rainy season, glacier termini measured year over year, burn scars mapped days after a fire front passes.
What the product delivers
Per-site or per-territory monitoring with a defensible chain of evidence: the scene, the processing, the measurement, the trend. Environment ministries use it for enforcement, lenders for covenant verification, and researchers for ground truth. The deliverable is built to be checked, because in this domain the first question is always whose number it is.
